Lodge Migdal Shalom was started by a core of S.A. brethren who had immigrated to Australia.  The Consecration President was Wor Bro Milton Shenker.  The entire membership initially consisted of ex-South Africans but over time a few dinkum Aussies were initiated. The Lodge is based at the United North Eastern Jewish War Memorial Centre and over the short years of existence has made a significant impact on the community.  Current membership is about 45 active members. In 1993 President Bro Mike Lazarow (ex Lodge Golan) was elected President and Bro Joel Distiller, son of   Past Grand President, Wor Bro Stanley Distiller, was elected Vice-President.

Lodge Migdal Shalom will prove over the next few years to truly be a beacon or tower of light in the Jewish Community of Melbourne.
