Lodge Hillel

Consecrated 9 October 1960

The re-establishment of a Lodge in Port Elizabeth was a considerable breakthrough as it heralded the re-introduction of Lodges of the Order in Port Elizabeth, East London and Cape Town.

The Grand Executive took the initiative in hiring a skycoach  to take delegations to Port Elizabeth for the consecration of Lodge Hillel in 1969. This was an historic flight: 50 brethren travelled from Johannesburg to Port Elizabeth which marked the beginning of many more charter flights to establish new lodges.

Bro Solly Friedman, A Stammelman, B Tucker and A Norris helped to establish the Lodge in Port Elizabeth. Wor Bro Jack Sesel, the Grand President, conducted the consecration.
